Washing Machine
Washing Machine is a Miele designed for use in marine environments. It was installed in a cupboard in the owners hull bathroom by removing the centre shelf in the cupboard.
The major issue with this install was getting it to the cupboard. The washing machine is very heavy and while I had carefully measured the cupboard to determine it would fit, I had not taken the same care with measuring the path to get it there! The companionway from the saloon was too narrow so I had to remove the fiddle and cut back the side of the companionway revealed by about 15mm to allow the washing machine to go through.
This involved removing the sliding hatch, and carefully working the sikaflex off the bulkhead to remove the fiddle without breaking it. A Dremel saw was used to cut back the bulkhead.
It took 3 men to get the machine down the stairs and in place in the cupboard and I am hoping I never have to take it out again.
Install required a water supply, waste water discharge and power. Water was available nearby, waste was plumbed into one of the existing waste lines and power was made available vis an extension cord.
