Maintenance/ Upgrade projects:
Toilet conversion
The two manual toilets in the port hull were converted from seawater flush to freshwater flush and upgraded to electric flush.

The finished product
The thinking behind this upgrade was to eliminate the water leakage from the manual pumps and by changing to fresh water flush, eliminate some of the odours and build up in the pipes and holding tank caused by the mixing of sea water with urine.
This proved to be a relatively straight forward upgrade. I used the Jabsco Quiet Flush system which utilises the existing toilet bowl and adds an electric pump and macerator. It requires a connection to the fresh water supply and a power source for the pump and solenoid valve that controls water flow.
The fresh water supply was already right there so it was a matter of finding a suitable location for the solenoid valve and connecting the water supply to it. The space behind the inspection hatches was the perfect location and remains easily accessible. The power supply required is 12 volt and was run from the existing toilet breaker on the distribution board for the existing electric toilet in the owners head.
The toilet bowls needed to be shifted a little and remounted to accommodate the motors.
This project would not have been implemented without the addition of a sizable output watermaker and we have retained the owners toilet as salt water flush in the event of problems with water production.
Change to fresh water flush freed up a thru hull fitting for the raw water intake for the watermaker.
